Foreign media said that some of the most popular beauty products sold by international cosmetics companies such as Estee Lauder and Revlon in the UK's bustling commercial streets are being tested in China.

According to the British "Sunday Times" website reported on December 27, 2015, the animal rights protection organization - PETA has identified more than 25 such commodities, and is calling on the government to investigate the existence of these cosmetics tested on animals. Violation of the EU marketing ban.

According to the report, in China, cosmetics sold by international companies must be tested in independent labor in government laboratories. Therefore, some cosmetic companies refuse to sell products in China.

Products that are marketed in the United Kingdom and are likely to be tested in China for animal testing include Revlon radiance lip gloss, Estee Lauder Freshening Brightening Cream and Clarins Body Deep Scrub.

Julia Baines, Scientific Policy Advisor for Animals for Animals, said: "Europe has taken the lead in banning animal testing of cosmetics and its ingredients, but we hope that the British government will investigate whether these products ignore the ban and violate the law."

In 2013, the EU banned the sale and sale of cosmetics for animal testing anywhere in the world. The limits of the ban – and whether it applies to foreign mandatory animal testing – are questioned in court.

PETA has praised companies like Estée Lauder and Revlon for not conducting animal testing. Emma Stone, the American actress and Revlon brand spokesperson, was awarded an award from the Animals of Good Animals for advocating zero-trauma cosmetics.

According to the report, the organization later learned about animal testing in China through industry insiders and removed some international cosmetics companies from its cruel list. In addition to Estee Lauder and Revlon, products sold by Clarins, Pui Ling Fei and Dior are sold in the UK and China, which means they may be subject to animal testing by the Chinese authorities.

Many customers in the UK have learned from retailers that no cosmetics are being tested on animals. A reporter recently visited the Estee Lauder counter at the John Lewis department store on Oxford Street in London and asked if the flower nail polish on the cruel list of PETA had been tested on animals. The reporter received a negative response. When she asked another product on the cruel list on the Oxford Street, Clinique Moisturizing Lip Gloss, she got the same answer from the sales staff, but another salesperson said that the EU ban could not be guaranteed. This product has not been tested on animals before it took effect.

PETA submitted a piece of information to the UK Department of Business, Innovation and Skills responsible for managing cosmetics, which referred to the marketing of some products that “directly violate” the ban.

Revlon said that since 1989, it has not carried out animal testing, but some countries including China will conduct independent testing on animals. Estee Lauder, which also owns the Clinique brand, said that the company did not conduct animal testing, but "the Chinese government requires all imported cosmetics, including our company's products, to pay for animal testing."

According to reports, Pui Lingwei said that there is no animal testing and does not support such an approach, but it is impossible to control the relevant procedures that need to be observed in China. Clarins said that it is vigorously promoting "a full acceptance of the practice of not using animal testing." Dior said that the company has not tested animals since 1989, and it also hopes to see such tests stopped in the cosmetics sector around the world. (Compile / Li Fengqin)
